Montreal’s Planetarium (Planétarium de Montréal) has been helping visitors discover the Stars and Universe since 1966. The Montreal Planetarium is designed to help uncover the fascinating world of astronomy and space exploration to all. It offers various multimedia shows that feature content for all ages.

Various Multimedia shows are offered by the Montreal Planetarium. More than 250 astronomy shows have been produced by the Planetarium. These shows recreate the movement of the planets, the universe and so much more. All the presentations are offered in both French and English.

History of the Montreal Planetarium

The Planetarium is one of Montreal’s most popular attractions. It is the largest planetarium in Canada and was the first public planetarium in Canada. It is also the only French language planetarium in North America. The Planetarium was originally known as the Dow Planetarium and was created for Expo ’67.

Montreal’s Planetarium Will be Moving

There are currently plans in the works to move the Planetarium to Maisonneuve Park, right next to the Olympic Stadium and other scientific attractions such as the Insectarium, the Botanical Garden and the Biodome. The new building will be able to accommodate twice the amount of visitors and will feature the latest audiovisual technology.

A Member of Montréal Nature Museums

The Montreal Planetarium is operated by the Ville de Montréal. It is part of the Montréal Nature Museums, which includes the Botanical Garden, the Insectarium and the Biodome.
