Montreal's Olympic Park
Montreal's Olympic Park (Parc Olympique) is a large park that was originally constructed for the 1976 Olympic Games. The park includes many of Montreal's popular attractions.
Attractions at the Olympic Park
The Olympic Park is located in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district, which is quite close to downtown Montreal. The Olympic Park consists of several buildings that were designed by French architect Roger Taillibert. Some of these buildings include:
- The Olympic Stadium, which features the worlds tallest inclined tower at 175 m (574 ft) high; The tower leans at 45 degrees.
- The Montreal Biodome, which was originally used as the velodrome during the 1976 Olympics.
- The Montreal Botanical Garden, which happens to be one of the largest botanical gardens in the world.
- The Montreal Insectarium which is one of the largest insectariums in the world.
- The Olympic Village, which are two pyramidal towers that was built to house athletes during the 1976 Olympics.
