Montreal's Île Sainte-Hélène

Montreal's Saint Helen's Island (Île Sainte-Hélène) is an island park in the Saint Lawrence River. Saint Helen's Island consists of two small islands: St. Helene's Island and Round Island. The island is named after the wife of Samuel de Champlain. It is part of Montreal's Jean-Drapeau Park along with Notre-Dame Island.

Expo '67 and Saint Helen's Island

Various sections of Saint Helen's Island were used as the site for Expo 67, a World Fair with the theme of Man and His World. In preparation for Expo '67, the island was expanded. After the conclusion of Expo 67, many of the Expo buildings were dismantled except for the Biosphere. The Biosphere was formerly the American Pavilion for Expo '67. The Biosphere now serves as a museum about water the Saint Lawrence River.

Attractions in Saint Helen's Island

Several popular Montreal attractions are located in Saint Helen's Island. Attractions located on Saint Helen's Island include Montreal's Biosphère, a large, geodesic dome that was first presented during Expo '67. Another attraction located on Saint Helen's Island is La Ronde, a theme park owned by Six Flags. This theme park is where L’International des Feux Loto-Québec international fireworks competition occurs. Other attractions located on the Island include the Stewart Museum. Saint Helen's Island is also used for various concerts and shows throughout the year.
