Montreal's Place des Arts
Montreal’s Place des Arts is Montreal’s center for the performing arts. It is the home of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (Montreal Symphony Orchestra), Les Grands Ballets Canadiens (Canada's top ballet companies), and the Opéra de Montréal (The Montreal Opera). The Place des Arts was built in 1962 and it is located in Montreal’s downtown area, along rue Ste-Catherine. It is the central piece of Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles.

Facilities inside the Place des Arts
The Place des Arts is also the home of the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (Montreal’s museum of contemporary arts). Many of the facitilities of the Place des Arts are connected to the Underground City. This inlucdes links to Place-des-Arts metro station as well as Complexe Desjardins, which is right across the street from the Place Des Arts.
Festivals held at the Place des Arts
The Place des Arts is the prime location for several festivals and events, most notably the International Jazz Festival. During the summer time, many of the streets that surround the Place des Arts become pedestrian-only streets to accommodate the huge crowds that line up the Place des Arts for the various festivities.
