The Montreal Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes are Montreal’s second favorite sports team, right after the Montreal Canadiens. The Alouettes play in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and are known locally as the "Als". Their home field is the Molson Stadium at McGill University. The Als were brought back from the dead in 1996, after a 10-year hiatus. The original Alouettes were in Montreal from 1946 to 1986.
The Molson Stadium and The Olympic Stadium
The Alouettes used to play at the Olympic Stadium up until November 1997. Since then, they have relocated to McGill University’s Percival Molson Stadium. The intimate open-air atmosphere of the Molson Stadium has made the Als the hottest ticket in town during the football season. Located on Mount-Royal, the stadium overlooks downtown Montreal and provides some beautiful night games. The Olympic Stadium is used for playoff games.
Montreal Loves the Als
The Als are extremely popular in Montreal and all their home games are usually sold out. Tickets can be difficult to come by, especially if you're part of a large group. The only way to get tickets is from scalpers around the stadium at game day.
2009 Grey Cup Winners
The Alouettes recently won the 2009 Grey Cup in Calgary against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
